Samuel married Mary BALES daughter of Jacob BALES and Salome SIDLE on 26 Aug 1869 in Henry Co., Ohio. Mary was born about 1850 in Ohio. She died before 1890.

They had the following children:

  4 F ii Nellie RAKESTRAW was born about 1872.
        Nellie married Patrick M. KELLEY on 13 Aug 1894 in Montana. Patrick was born about 1868.
