Throughout my research
on the Branson family, it became apparent that these people
were pioneers in the true sense of the word. Bransons
participated in just about every major event in our country's
history, including the Revolutionary War and the Civil War.
Many of them seemed bound and determined to move westward and
played their various parts in the "taming of the
wilderness". My grandfather, Ira, owned a team of horses
that he used when working with various crews to build the
roads of many towns and countrysides in Missouri, Colorado,
Oregon and California. Although he ended up near the coast of
California, I suppose he would have kept moving westward had
not the Pacific Ocean been there. This man, who died in 1968,
was the last generation of Bransons to participate in this
nation-building enterprise. That is why I am dedicating this
website to his memory.
