35- Year Resident, Clarence Rakestraw Claimed by Death, - Resident ofKitsap County of Kitsap County for 35 years, Clarence Rakestraw, 59,Silverdale, died at a local hospital today following an extendedillness. Mr. Rakestraw was born 19 Nov. 1894, in Montana and spent hisearly life in Havre. He has retired from the naval shipyard's publicworks department a year ago last March.
Mr. and Mrs. Rakestraw have resided in Silverdale recently, althoughMr. Rakestraw previously had lived in the Tracyton area. Also survivingare three daughters, Mrs. Jack Clogston, Rocky Point; Mrs. R.J. My Grandmother Eve - her full name was Eve Pearl Lindsey, born July 9,1899 in Chromo, Co. She died Aug 28, 1994 in Bremerton. Her firstmarriage was to Clarence Rakestraw on Jan 24, 1924 in Kitsap Co. NickSpudich information 16 July 2000

Eva lived for years in a trailer on Tracyton Beach. (twenty years atleast from early sixty to mid seventy) Later she moved in with one of herdaughters. Eva had daughter, named Bonnie Jean and Alice, othersunnamed. One daughter married Jack Clogston and lived in a house on thehill above Eva's trailer on the beach. Ron and Gary Lindsey used tovisit their Aunt Eva. She would invite them inside and share a soda withthem. She was a very nice person.

23 Oct. 1935 issue of the "Bremerton Searchlight" under the "Tracyton"Column, Winnifred Lindsey, and Bonnie Jean Rakestraw, were waitresses ata father and son banquet held at the Tracyton Grange Hall.

05 Nov. 1935, same newspaper, Mr and Mrs. Clarence Rakestraw madeHalloween an evening of fun and frolic by opening their home. Amongthose that participated were Winnie Lindsey, Eileen Lindsey, Ila Harmon,Vere Harmon, Sammy Rakestraw, the hostess were Bonnie Jean and AliceRakestraw.

17 Nov. 1935, Mrs. Clarence Rakestraw, Mrs. George Morton, Mrs. AlvinHansen,was hostess for the "Get-Together" Club held at M.E. Church inTracyton 1935, Mrs. S. Lindsey is visiting her daughter in Tacoma. Mrs.Clarence Rakestraw is quite ill at her home.

Elton A. Witt, 78, of 963 Colchester Drive SE in Port Orchard, passedaway at his residence on Sunday, April 08, following an extended illness.
Mr. Witt was born on 19 November 1900, in Denver, Colorado. As ayoung boy he moved to Alaska where he was reared and educated.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Witt of the family home; a son, CarlE. Witt of Port Orchard; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Mildred) Langland ofBremerton and Mrs. Damon (Helen) Ryan of Bremerton, nine grandchildren,seven great grandchildren and nine step grandchildren.

Sarah M Witt, 64, Port Orchard, Rte. 3/4. Box 197, a resident of the PortOrchard area since 1920, died at Harrison Memorial Hospital Saturdayafternoon.
Mrs. Witt was born in 26 July 1904, at Macon, MO., to Alanza and EllaRay. At the age of five, she began living with her aunt and uncle, Lt.(j.g.) and Mrs. J.L. Bloomquist in California. In 1920 they removed tothe Colby area and on 21 Sept. 1923, she was married to Elton A. Witt inTacoma.
Mrs. Witt was a charter member of the Colby Garden Club, a 4'H ClubLeader and a member of the Church of Christ Scientist in Port Orchard.
During World War II she was a skywatcher in the South Colby area.Surviving in addition to her husband, Elton, of the family home are twodaughters, Mrs. Walter (Milfred) Landland, Bremerton, Mrs. Helen L.Goodwin, Port Orchard; a sister, Mrs. Opal O'Brien, Seattle ; 11grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services willbe held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home inPort Orchard with a reader from the First Church of Christ Scientistofficiating. Burial will be at Sunset Lane Cemetery.
