BUCKNER, MARY, Berkeley Parish, Spotsylvania Co., d. June 7, 1787. Wit. Harry Stubblefield, A. Parker, Judy Buckner. Ex. sons John, Mordacai and William. Leg. Mentions her first husband Thomas Buckner, who by his will dated June 2, 1755, devised his estate to me, leaving it to my discretion to divide the same among his youngest children at my death, I divide the same among the following: son John, son Mordacai and son William. "And whereas during the time of my intermarriage with Col. Samuel Buckner, and at the same time holding the estate of my first husband Thomas Buckner, the estate of Samuel Buckner became indebted to the estate of the said Thomas to a considerable amount in moneys, be the amount what it will, the same is to be divided between my three sons above named." Decr. 18, 1770. Oliver Towles of Spts. Co., Gent., and Mary, his wife, to Harry Stubblefield of same Co. In trust. Whereas, Larkin Chew, Gent., and Mary, his wife, in right of sd. Mary, were seized, etc., of a tract of land in Spts. Co. containing 1042 a., and by indenture Septr. 25, 1758, conveyed the sd. land to Jno. Smith, Gent., and Mary, his wife, and their heirs, etc. (which sd. Mary was daughter of sd. Larkin Chew and Mary, his wife, etc.), and whereas since the sd. Indenture was made, the sd. John Smith, Gent., has died and the sd. Mary, his wife, has intermarried with the sd. Oliver Towles, and the sd. Larkin Chew being also dend, the sd. Oliver Towles and Mary, his wife, in her right and by forc?? of the sd. Indenture, etc., in trust for the use of the sd. Mary Chew, the mother, and the sd. Mary Towles, etc., and the sd. Oliver Towles and Mary his wife, being desirous to make a settlement to provide for the children o?? the sd. Mary by both marriages. This Indenture Witnesseth, for carrying sd. intention into execution, and the love and affection sd. Oliver Towle?? and Mary, his wife, bear to Larkin Smith, Mary and Elizabeth Smith (so?? and daughters of the sd. Mary Towles by her former husband, John Smith) and to the children begotten or to be begotten, between the sd. Olive?? and Mary, the sd. Towles and wife deed to sd.
