!DEATH: Emily died 20 days after giving birth to her only child, WesleyNelvin. Her Mother, Sarah (Biss) Shafer came to Iowa and took her bodyand the baby back to Wisconsin. The baby was so small, she carried himin a grape box.

She raised Wesley as a Shafer, which is still used as our legal nametoday. We do know and have Wesley's Dad's lineage. I (EA) have a bookon Laughlins, titled "

Son, Wesley was raised as a Shafer by Frank's wife's Mother. Frank keptin touch with Wesley through the years and visited in Hill City later inlife.
Some Laughlin cousins came through and remained good friends throughouttheir lives. EA has a book of Laughlin Family History.
