3. David LINDSEY (Jacob ) was born in 1714 in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. He died in Aug 1782 in Cumberland Co, PA.

David's ancestors were either the Lindsays of Edzell & Glenesk in Scotland or the Lindseys of Lincolnshire, England

David came to America in about 1770 or earlier, eventually he settled in the area of Carllisle, Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania.

In 1772, David Lindsey was taxed as a renter in West Pennsborough Township, Cumberland C., Pa. for 200 acres of wood & 40 acres clear.

David was taxed in 1773 in West Pennsborough Twp. for 1 horse & 1 cow.

From about 1779 until his death in August 1782(1784), David Lindsey probably did some farming in Tyrone Twp. & also operated a tavern, called "The Globe" in Carlisle.

On June 5, 1784, an agreement was made between David A. Lindsey, ( eldest son of Jacob Lindsey (Jacob being the eldest son of David Lindsey) & the other co-heirs of David Lindsey's estate. The real estate of the late David was to be sold at public auction on June 18, 1784 & Alexander Forsyth, of York Co., Pa., (who was the son-in-law of David- the husband of David's daughter, Rachael Lindsey) was to act as trustee, Source: (Cumberland Co., Pa. Deeds, 1-G- 209).


David Lindsey's property in Tyrone Twp was finally sold on Dec. 15, 1802 by his grandson, David A. Lindsey, of Tyrone Twp, to James Blair, of York Co., Pa. for 100 pounds. Source:(Cumberland Co., Pa Deeds, 1-S-272.)

David married Elizabeth Jane? in 1734/1735.
