"John Fowler had four brothers and five sisters. His father's name was Richard Fowler. He was raised in Indiana near New Albany and came to Litchfield about 1856 or 7. Learned the tinners trade in Indiana and when he came to Litchfield, he went into the hardware business. He did the tin work and put on the tin roof on the courthouse in Hillsboro. His brothers' names were Reason, Johnson, Thompson, Samuel. The Fowlers came from Kentucky to Indiana. Reason later settled near Topeka. Samuel and Joshua lived in Indiana. John Fowler had two sons, William and Frank. William was a half brother. Three daughters, Annie (Holden), Laura (Paden) and Hettie. William settled in Los Angeles, California. Annie and Laura in Kansas."

I found Joshua D. Fowler in the 1830 IN Census, Tippecanoe County, page 218, micropublication 19, roll 31. I saw this on the actual microfilm copy. Joshua D. Fowler was definitely in Tippecanoe County, IN, in the 1830 Census, where there was one male 30-40 y.o., one male 10-15 y.o., three males 5-10 y.o., and one male under five y.o.; one female 30-40 y.o., one female 10-15 y.o., and one female under five y.o. This fits the make-up of his family.

Joshua D. Fowler's presumed brothers were John D. Fowler, Jr., Fenwick T., Rezin Thomas, S. F., Jonathan, William G., all sons of John D. Fowler of Brown County, Ohio, who died in Brown County in 1823. Joshua D. Fowler was married and in Butler County, Ohio, in the 1820 Census, but was in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, by 1830. I do not have the names of James Augustine Fowler or Benjamin Nicholas Fowler in any of my names. Joshua D. Fowler did have a son, named James Riley Fowler, who was born in Ohio, probably Butler County, circa 1821. There were lots of Fowlers in Ohio in the early 1800's. Lots of them started in northeastern Ohio. I don't see a connection between these names but we may still be connected. I think my Fowlers moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in the 1700's, where Joshua D. Fowler was born in 1793. There are also Fowlers that came out of Connecticut. Good luck!

Joshua D. Fowler married Mary Hall in Clermont County, Ohio, 9 June 1816. In 1816 the place where the John D. Fowlers lived was in Clermont County, though it had been in Adams County before that, and after that it was Brown County. I don't think they ever moved and I think they lived in or around Russellville, Ohio. I don't know anything about Mary Hall's parents though I have searched and searched. A nickname for Mary is Polly (1850 IN Census).
