William HUSSEY

Notes

36. Captain Joseph HUSSEY

Source: Genealogical and Family History of the State of New Hampshire, Vol IV, 1908. Indicates he is a brother of Christopher, was of Hampton, which he represented in the legislature in 1672. The UK IGI also has a Joseph, son of John and Mary Hussey, born 1601 in Dorking, Surrey, England.

Another reference, The Batchelor Family News-Journal, Vol IV, No 3, April, 1974, says the following: "Following Theodate's death in the fall of 1649, Christopher undetook alone the rearing of their children Stephen, Joseph, John, Mary, Theodate and Huldah untill Dec 9, 1658 when he married Ann, the widow of Jeffrey Mingay. This indicates Joseph is Christopher's son, not his brother.

The History of the Town of Hampton, New Hampshire, 1893, indicates that Joseph is the son of Christopher and that he was representative from Hampton in 1672.
