Edward I "Longshanks" PLANTAGENET King of England

Acceded 08-17-1239 at Westminster Abbey, London, England. Buried Westminster Abbey, London, England. Reigned 1272-1307. In Barons war (1264-1267) he defeated Barons at Evesham in 1265. He later tried to assert his authority over Scotland and died while on his way to fight Robert the Bruce.
He is noted for encouraging Parliamentary institutions at the expense of feudalism and for subduing Wales on which he imposed the English system of administration.
