SOLLEY LELA 04/08/1890 FOWLER F ARKANSAS LOS ANGELES(70) 05/20/1965 75 yrs
Notes for LELA JOSEPHINE MCGRAW:
Lela is supposed to be part Cherokee Indian. She was born in same house as her cousin Phoebe Fowler, on same day. Lela told her children and grandchildren stories about being placed on a pony by Buffalo Bill and that she came west in a covered wagon.
She used to be a palm reader and read tarot cards before she became a Christian, after which she never played cards again.
Lela had a stroke after John died. Through prayer, she overcame her paralysis, then moved to an upstairs apartment in southern California. Later she moved in with Maxine and David Helm and lived there with David until she died. Because the Misner family moved to Idaho in April 1965, it was believed that Lela's death in May 1965 was the result of a broken heart. She was found dead in her rocking chair on the front steps.
