Andrew Jackson Branson and his wife, Susannah Wilkerson, arrived in 1849 from Bledsoe County, Tennessee along with their son, Valentine and his wife Alpha M. Branson. They settled near Woollam.
Valentine's family was large consisting of thirteen children. They were Alfred P., who resided in Mansfield, Texas; Olivia who married Luster Anderson of Gasconade County; Galba E., who was killed at Kirbyville on July 4, 1989 while sheriff of Taney County; Hanna M., who married J. VA; occupation selling generalmerchandise in Summum at age 75 at the time of his second marriage; removed to Oberlin (now Summum), Fulton Co, IL by1849, erecting the 2nd house there; tax assessor there 1860;remained a Mennonite during his lifetime, even though there was no local church in Fulton Co; was a "staunch Democrat"; probably buried in Ipava because his son Chester was living there.
