Note: Lineage ; surname also spelled "Shank", or "Schenck".
Born and raised in Rockingham Co. VA; occupation selling generalmerchandise in Summum at age 75 at the time of his second marriage; removed to Oberlin (now Summum), Fulton Co, IL by1849, erecting the 2nd house there; tax assessor there 1860;remained a Mennonite during his lifetime, even though there was no local church in Fulton Co; was a "staunch Democrat"; probably buried in Ipava because his son Chester was living there.
