DESCRIPTIONS OF LAND NOT AVAILABLE - REASON:
In the late 1790's and early 1800's, several dozen volumes of Ohio military bounty warrants were issued to Virginia veterans of the Revolutionary War. The lands were in the Virginia Military District in central Ohio (between the Scioto River and Little Miami River), which was set aside to fulfill the land requirements of these warrants. The land descriptions on these warrants consisted of little more than a metes and bounds survey, which was usually tied to other metes and bounds surveys in that area for previously issued warrants. Just about the only data the BLM project team was able to capture from these warrants was the soldier's name, warrant number, survey date, signature date and acreage. Due to the lack of precise information on where the land was located, it was not possible to tie these records to a specific land description or to a county within the Virginia Military District.

The Fowler family in the Middle Atlantic States and Ohio
Then we come to James, Jr. He married Nancy Lumm on 16 Sept. 1830 in Columbiana Co., Ohio. This may not have been his first marriage, given the record of a James Fowler of Frederick Co., MD, who married his cousin Letitia, daughter of Henry and Mary Fowler on 29 Aug. 1818 "and went to Ohio." This from notes of Robert Fowler Miller [LDS Film 1001487.] Interestingly, Letitia had a brother named Benjamin.
(Note: reason to believe this is another James Fowler)

JOHN BARNETT,4 (Joseph,3 John,2 John,1) b. August 29, 1752, in Hanover township. He was a farmer by occupation. At the outset of the
Revolution he was appointed a lieutenant in the Hanover battalion of Associators, commanded by Colonel Timothy Green. He served with
distinction at Long Island, August 27, 1776, and through the campaign of 1777 was in constant active service. During the remainder of the
war, he was in command of a volunteer company, which was formed for the protection of the frontiers from the encroachments of the Tories
and their allies, the savage Indians of New York. The sword which he carried through the war is now in the possession of William Barnett, of
Dayton, Ohio. Major Barnett was rather under middle size, and of a lively disposition. "He was a noted fox-hunter, kept a pack of hounds, and a
fine horse, named 'Pad,' and was much of his time, in hunting season, upon the Blue Mountain." Major Barnett died May 12, 1823, and is
buried in Hanover graveyard. He married, April 29, 1784, MARY MCEWEN, of Hanover, a very estimable lady. She was born September 9,
1762; died March 10, 1806, and is interred by the side of her husband.

For those who were interested.. These are the sons and daughters of John
Freeman as mentioned in his Will of 1846. All are thought to be by a first
unknown wife, except the last two by LYDIA STOUT (previous married name).
If anyone has anything to add, let me know. (I have exact dates on many of
these). What I am really aiming at is trying to find who my ggg grandma
is, buried in the FREEMAN CEMETERY (where-ever that may be--and whoever
knows who is in it!).
